Breaking Free - Host: Rose Spencer
Welcome to Breaking Free talk show, hosted by Rose Spencer. Breaking Free is a weekly talk show that is designed to bring to the forefront the current issues that are affecting the African Diaspora.
Over two hundred years has passed since the authors of the Declaration of Independence outlined a bold vision for America: a nation in which all people would be free and equal. The vision has yet to be achieved.
In Breaking Free we will examine some of the problems that people in the African Diaspora are currently facing; from our public schools where students of color are too often confined to racially isolated, underfunded, and inferior programs, to our criminal justice system that disproportionately targets and incarcerates people of color and criminalizes poverty, to the starkly segregated world of housing.
Breaking Free promotes community empowerment and engagement with guests and topics that are focused on the African Diaspora, civil rights, education and politics, to name a few. The show will feature authors, cultural guests and community leaders discussing topical issues of concern to the people of the Diaspora.
In the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.”
Join Rose Spencer on Mondays at 3pm so that we can all break free from societal bondage'.
